You’ve uploaded your virtual tour to Scenics, added the perfect title and description, selected just the right location — all in all, life is good. But there’s one more important thing to determine: which privacy setting do you choose? Scenics offers you tons of privacy options to help fit your needs, because it is one of the most important things to our community.

Maybe you’re working on a draft of a promotional virtual tours, and only want a certain project manager at a company to see it. Or maybe you’re creating educational content that can be public, but you only want people to view it on your own website, off of Scenics. Privacy settings play a critical role in all of these use cases.

And since we want to make your Scenics experience as seamless as possible, here are some helpful tips for common use cases we see to help you navigate the particulars of privacy — so you can get millions of eyes on your virtual tours, or just a few. The settings are your oyster.

‘Unlisted tours’ are the default privacy option for Professional and Business subscription plans, but sometimes this isn’t enough.

With the ‘Access Control and Password Protected’ feature available additionally only for Professional and Business subscription plans, you can apply custom privacy settings to your tours.

Using this feature you can:

  • Hide your tours from Scenics;
  • Protect the tour with a password;
  • Set the list of domains allowed for embeds.

The ‘Access Control and Password Protected’ feature has no expiration date and is paid per tour on Professional plans and included for up to 25 virtual tours in Business subscription plans.

You can make sure that only certain people see your virtual tours by setting them to a specific setting. Everyone who uploads a virtual tour on Scenics has access to the following settings:

  • Public, searchable in the internet means that anyone (yes, anyone) can access your virtual tour.
  • Unlisted, available via direct link only will allow you to add a password for viewers to gain access to your virtual tour, including Scenics and non-Scenics members.
  • Just me is exactly what it sounds like — only you (and other members of your team) can see your virtual tour.

You also have access to set your embed and domain-level privacy, which means that you can choose what specific website you want to allow your virtual tour to be embedded on. Pretty easy, right?

So hopefully, you’ve learned a few things on how to keep your virtual tours private, no matter what container or sharing mechanism you decide to use in Scenics privacy settings. Private virtual tours or not, we hope you’ll find the best way to protect your work or expand your audience using Scenics.
